Mahatma Gandhi had lived his words "When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it. Always." He exhibited this statement throughout his life and had encouraged all to be peaceful, even before he became an iconic Indian political character. He had showed this especially when he was in South Africa. Gandhi had been in first class on the train when two guards had refused to allow him the seat because he was not white. He was thrown off the train, though he stayed peaceful then. He remained peaceful even when began the movement and while he was protesting the inequality of the races in South Africa.
Gandhi remained peaceful even when he was protesting against the British in India. He had remembered always to be peaceful because he was inevitably going to fall if he and his followers turned to violence. Gandhi knew that the authorities could not do anything to arrest him, nor his fellow protesters because they had not acted in violence and hate. As he was protesting against the Islam and Hindu conflict, he began to fast which allowed him to think about the tyrants for history in his "despair" while fasting.
Even after Gandhi's death, his followers and his family had been peaceful. Gandhi's killer had been forgiven by his family. though the government decided to hang him as punishment for his horrendous deed. Gandhi is still a beloved figure of India's and world's history. He is still respected and teaching many about peace and philosophy.
